INSEAI Celebrates Its First Doctoral Thesis on Informality

INSEAI is proud to announce a significant milestone for the project: the first doctoral thesis on informality developed within the framework of the network. The dissertation was carried out by Ignacio Picatoste Novo and supervised by María Asunción López Arranz, both of whom are members of INSEAI.

The defense also counted with the participation of Santos M. Ruesga as a member of the doctoral committee, reinforcing the strong academic ties that connect the researchers involved in the project. This shared involvement reflects the collaborative spirit that has guided INSEAI since its inception and the commitment of its members to advancing high-quality research on labour informality.

This thesis represents more than an individual academic achievement. It is also a collective milestone for INSEAI, as it shows how the project is helping to foster new research pathways, support doctoral training, and consolidate a growing community of scholars working on one of the most pressing challenges in labour markets across Europe and Latin America.
