Bogdan Diaconu is Associate Professor at the Faculty of Engineering of the "Constantin Brâncusi” University of Târgu Jiu, Romania. His academic background is in Mechanical and Energy Engineering, with research interests focused on energy systems, data-driven modelling, and explainable artificial intelligence.

His research activity initially focused on thermal energy systems, and latent heat thermal energy storage using phase change materials, later expanding toward machine learning applications for forecasting, monitoring, anomaly detection, and interpretable decision support in complex engineering systems. More recently, his work has explored explainability and robustness evaluation methods in AI-based models, including computer vision and energy forecasting applications.

Alongside his academic activity, he has accumulated industrial experience in high-voltage substations, control and protection systems, and SVC Plus technology within international energy infrastructure projects.

He is author and co-author of scientific publications in renewable energy systems, thermal energy storage, energy efficiency, and applied artificial intelligence, as well as several patented engineering solutions.

Within the INSEAI project, he contributes perspectives related to data analysis, modelling methodologies, and explainable AI approaches for complex socio-economic phenomena.
